Dr. Schwade is an internationally recognized Radiation Oncologist, who has practiced for over 20 years in Miami, Florida, where he holds the rank of Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
He served as Medical Director of the Regional Cancer Treatment Center at Baptist Hospital of Miami (1981-87) before assuming the position of Professor and Chairman of the Department Of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he was also Associate Director for Clinical Research in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (1987-94).
Dr. Schwade has been in private practice since 1994, as well as spending time on medically related business pursuits. He was a principal and Vice-president for Medicine and Science of the Proton Therapy Corporation of America, as well as Chairman, CEO and President of Quality Oncology, LC. He currently does commercial arbitration and mediation of healthcare related matters.
He has completed training in Florida Circuit Civil Mediation, as well as the Program in Health Care Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Leadership at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Schwade also serves as a Healthcare Risk Management consultant for the Institute for Conflict Management. In addition, he has been invited to be an organizer and participant on the South Florida Health Care Arbitration Panel of the American Arbitration Association, and is a Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator.
Dr. Schwade has authored over 80 scientific articles, and lectured extensively in the United States and abroad. He is a member of numerous state and national professional societies, a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology. He is certified in Therapeutic Radiology (Radiation Oncology) by the American Board of Radiology. He is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Georgia and California, and is registered as a Staff Officer (Surgeon) with the United States Merchant Marine.
