David Armstrong offers clients 30 years experience in the construction industry as a developer, general contractor, construction expert, construction defect expert, construction management consultant, risk management consultant, mediator and arbitrator.
Mr. Armstrong has resolved over two-thousand construction disputes regarding project delays, change order requests, patent defects, latent defects, water intrusion, roofing, masonry, earthquake damage, structural failure, compaction, contract interpretation, scope of work issues, architectural and engineering malpractice and negligence, standards of care for contractors and developers, fraud and negligence, liens, ADA/handicap access, landlord misrepresentation, defective products, non-payment, building code violation, materials handling and stop notices.
He’s the founder of The Institute for Conflict Management, LLC (I.C.M.), and the Institute of Construction Management, LLC. In this regard, Mr. Armstrong’s experience includes assignments for mediation consulting, litigation consulting, designated construction expert and lead construction expert witness providing expert testimony on behalf of owners, developers, architects, engineers, material men, and subcontractors.
As an Educator and Lecturer for the Institute for Conflict Management, LLC, Mr. Armstrong has provided training for over 40 State Bar Associations members, the American Institute of Architects, the International Society of Hospitality Consultants, various engineering associations and the American Society of Interior Designers, all organizations which have accepted the Institute’s Certification programs for continuing education credits.
Mr. Armstrong received his Masters Degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Pepperdine University School of Law, in Malibu, California. He has mediated and arbitrated for the construction, architectural, and engineering industries, as well as for the courts, having resolved over two-thousand disputes..
Mr. Armstrong served as a planning and zoning commissioner, Industrial revenue bond board member, building code reviewer, parks study group, zoning ordinance committee and was the president of a local homebuilders association.
