The Maoists while in jungles preferred the UN mediation for talks with the government in Nepal, however, the Maoists in government now prefer no more UN support to hold talks with the India nurtured Nepal’s Militant Madhesi outfits.

To add, the UNMIN (UN Mission in Nepal) Chief Mr. Ian Martin earlier this year had met with Jay Krishna Goit, a leader of a Madhesi militant outfit in Mujaffarpur, State of Bihar, India.

After meeting Mr. Martin, Goit surprisingly began demanding the UN Mediation for holding talks with the Nepal government.

One of the main demands of Goit is the secession of Madhesh from the mainland Nepal.

Be that as it may, the Maoists’ Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Janardan Sharma alias Prabhakar talking to the press on Sunday October 5, 2008 confirmed that the government was indeed preparing to hold talks with the India based Militant groups.

“We welcome them anytime from now on to sit for talks with the government”, declared Prabhakar.

“We will only talk to those outfits that took the weapons with the political motive…we will not talk to the criminals and terrorist groups”, Prabhakar added.

However, in saying so the Maoists’ Minister reminded that when he himself was a rebel leader was labeled as a terrorist by India prior to Nepal but the Indian regime had granted him and his ilk a safe haven some where in the Indian capital New-Delhi similar to those with whom the current Maoists led government is trying to hold talks with.
