ICM TRAINING
40-Hour Family Mediation Certification
“Over 3,000 Students Trained since 1995″

“ICM’s Mediation Training provides breakthrough communication and process skills every professional must have to be truly effective in the mediation room.”

“Our community is abuzz with excitement about Diana Mercer when she comes and conducts training for new and/or experienced mediators.  As a mediator, Diana leads the parties in a positive, collaborative, and peaceful conversation designed to promote both recognition of common interests and compromise for differing interests.  The last time Diana came to train, my mediation students continued through the semester to reflect on and apply the lessons she taught and the mediation techniques that she modeled for the students.  Diana is a true gem as a trainer, because she is able to combine her skills as a highly experienced and successful practitioner, with her skills as a thoughtful, insightful, and effective teacher.  She has my strongest endorsement.”

“Diana Mercer is a terrific speaker, trainer, and moderator.  She spoke at my Women’s Festival events (www.womensfestivals.org) in Santa Barbara, CA and Sedona, AZ in spring 2008 and participants loved her down-to-earth, easygoing style and her honesty in approaching both her prepared remarks and ad hoc responses to questions from the workshop attendees.  Her topic, “Creating Peace - Getting Ahead In Your Career and on The Homefront by Striking the Balance”, with co-presenter Neeti Dewan, the Executive Yogi, was a conference favorite. Her straightforward approach to interest-based negotiations works both at home as well as in more formal settings, and I love her no-nonsense approach and willingness to share her expertise in practical mediation and negotiation tips that work.  Diana illustrates her points with real stories which make them come alive and she’s always full of interesting and pragmatic advice.”

ICM’s 40-HOUR FAMILY MEDIATION CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Do you work with couples and families going through divorce and custody issues and know there’s a better way for them to handle these issues than going to court?  Do you hear them complain about litigation attorneys and the court system?  Are you concerned about the fallout for their children and their individual well-being after their case is completed?  Are you interested in helping them by using your natural mediation and negotiation talents as well as your professional background?

Well, you’re in for a treat.

What if you had the opportunity to learn how family law mediators help families create lasting solutions first hand?

Did you know that you can transfer the same skills you use in your current professional practice into techniques professional mediators use to help families resolve conflicts in a sane, sensible way and at a reasonable cost?

Now you can learn exactly how to implement these mission-critical skills to help families avoid the devastation of court while you enhance your current professional skills and use your talents to become a more influential communicator, negotiator, mediator and peacemaker.

Our trainers will take you by the hand and show you exactly how it’s done. After training more than 2,900 individuals over the last 12 years, we’ve identified the most effective mediation and communication training techniques. You’ll learn through a combination of Inter-active Lectures, Live Role-Plays, Small Group Exercises, Training Videos, and Case Studies.

Our experienced family mediation trainers are able to coach you and provide immediate feedback so you see a ‘real-time’ improvement in your abilities.

In this training program not only will you learn the skills necessary to become a highly effective family mediator, but:

•How to mediate family and family law disputes,
•How to quickly and effectively key in on the ‘family dynamics’ and utilize them to everyone’s advantage.
•How to be ‘tough on the issues and not the people’,
•Why you need to motivate people to drop their guard and  starting thinking constructively,
•How to use your questioning skills to determine the underlying motives of any situation,
•Techniques to REALLY think in terms of creative solutions,
•How to positively reframe any statement for clarity,
•How to make every mediation session efficient and follow through with effective results,
•Successful Summary techniques for concluding family mediations, and
•How to immediately implement all of these new skills when you return to your practice.

This-five-day mediation training program will give you insights and specific techniques you can use immediately to help both traditional and non-traditional families solve divorce and custody disputes, while you obtain the necessary training to add mediation to your current practice or transition into your next career as a mediator.
